In the fall of 1999 Pastor Peter Moon was called to plant Harbor Light Christian Center.

It was quite a leap of faith to do so as Pastor and Sandy, his wife, only knew one couple in Traverse City. Since that time Harbor Light has grown and enjoys a good reputation in the community.

It was through the Holy Spirit’s leading that they took the step of faith to come, and God met them with His great provision through prayer and other faithful Christians. Meeting in a junior high school for two years until they came to settle at Harbor Light's current location on Barnes Road, they have learned to adapt to almost any situation. 

You might ask- "why another Church in Traverse City"? The answer to that question came to Pastor Pete when He asked God the same thing. "If there were a church like Harbor Light here in TC we would not have had to come." Pastor and Sandy were called to bring the only thing they could- themselves and their unique style of ministry, just like other Churches who are ministering as only they can.

God challenged them to, "not build a church fashioned after the old". That means we as Harbor Light are to be open to God’s leading.

Our Pastor and leaders have all experienced much of the same things that you have in life. Not all bad but let's face it, many experiences in life are painful and even leave scars; the only way we can minister in lives of others is if we are authentic ourselves.
